Auto driver stabbed to death

A 27-year-old autorickshaw driver was alledgely stabbed to death by his friends over a trivial row on Netaji Road in Pulakeshinagar on Saturday night.

According to the police, the deceased, Azaruddin, an auto autorickshaw and a resident of Kalasipalya, had come to Shivajinagar along with two friends. The trio boarded an auto to go to Pulakeshinagar. On the way, the auto driver stopped at a medical store to buy some medicine.

Meanwhile, a heated argument ensued between the three friends and Azaruddin was stabbed. The victim got out of the autorikshaw and tried to escape, but the duo chased him, pushed him onto the road divider and stabbed him repeatedly.

The accused escaped after passers-by rushed to save Azaruddin. He was taken to a near-by private hospital, where he succumbed later in the night.

Babu , the driver of the autorickshaw the three were travelling in, told the police that he was threatened to take them to Pulakeshinagar.

The police are on the lookout for the assailants.
