Justice Jayanth Patel, judge of Karnataka High Court and executive chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority has underlined the need for forming a special tribunal for senior citizens.
“There is lack of awareness about the 'Patrons and Senior Citizens Welfare Act-2017.' Hence, it is necessary to form a special tribune,” Justice Patel said.
He was speaking at the one-day workshop on Senior Citizens Legal Services Scheme at zilla panchayat premises here on Sunday.
Kolar has been selected as pilot district to implement the scheme in the State.
Delivering a lecture on the subject, senior professor of NIMHANS G. Gururaj said a society which accords priority to senior citizens will become stronger. A broacher on the facilities available for senior citizens was released on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra presided over the function.
