The bodies of three police officers who had been kidnapped by armed men while on patrol in the northern state of Guanajuato were found, officials said.
Authorities said today the policemen had been on patrol in the city of Salamanca late Friday when they were forced at gunpoint into vehicles by several armed, hooded men.
The police officers' bullet-riddled bodies were found early Saturday on a rural road near the town of Jaral del Progreso.
Their deaths came in an unusually bloody weekend for Guanajuato that saw 13 other people killed in the preceding 24 hours, police said.
