Says a Kollam-based businessman too is targeting him

P.V. Anvar, MLA of Nilambur, has denied the allegations levelled against him that he had flouted rules in the construction of a water theme park at Kakkadampoyil in Koodarinji grama panchayat in Kozhikode district.

Mr. Anvar told mediapersons here on Saturday that some sections, including a Kollam-based businessman and Congress leader Aryadan Mohammed, were targeting him with personal vengeance. “The allegations are part of a personal and political vendetta,” the MLA said.

He said that his park had been approved by different government bodies, including the local civic body. “The allegations of flouting the norms for constructing the park are meant to tarnish my public life,” he said.

Mr. Anvar said that a Kollam-based businessman was targeting him personally after he declined a bribe of ₹50 lakh. The MLA had ventured to help the relatives of the businessman to regain their property illegally kept in the possession by the businessman. Mr. Anvar said that the businessman had approached him with ₹50 lakh to stop helping his relatives.

He said a group of Congress activists led by Aryadan Mohammed was trying to tarnish him personally and politically.

A group of students under the banner of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) staged a protest here on Saturday and fixed a black flag on Mr. Anvar’s car. They threatened and prevented Mr. Anvar’s staff member when he tried to remove the flag.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mohammed brushed aside the counter-charges raised by Mr. Anvar that the Congress leader was targeting him personally and politically. He said the government should investigate all the allegations of norms violations in the park construction.
