e-District Kerala, the flagship e-governance project launched in 2013, will soon be offering more digital services for the public in the State.

By October, the non-creamy layer certificate issued by the Revenue Department and the services offered under the Santhwana scheme of NoRKA (Non-Resident Keralites Affairs) will be made available through the e-District project by October, the Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has said.

The KSITM has rolled out an online system for administering revenue court cases. The Forest Department has also joined the e-District platform for various services including compensation for wild animal attacks and crop loss.

A press note issued here said at least one member of the 80-lakh families in the State was utilising the e-District portal for various services and 81,000 citizens had registered themselves on the public portal to avail themselves of the services. The press note said efforts were on to enlarge the portfolio of digital services offered through the e-District platform in Thiruvananthapuram and Wayanad districts.

Meanwhile, the poject has crossed another milestone by processing over 3 crore certificates through its online platform. Currently, 24 revenue certificate services, including income, caste, and possession certificates, are offered through Akshaya centres and the e-District public portal (https://edistrict.kerala.gov.in). All the online certificates bear the digital signature of the issuing officer.

More than 500 payment services, including electricity bills, water bills, telephone bills, university fees, and the fee for Right to Information applications and public complaint redressal, are also available through e-District.

A State Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), e-District was launched as a pilot project in Kerala in Palakkad and Kannur districts in 2010 and rolled out across all remaining districts over the next three years.
