Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) B S Sandhu today said the police is "fully alert and capable" to deal with any kind of situation that may arise after the court verdict on Dera Sacha Sauda head on August 25.
He directed the police officers to maintain law and order situation with the assistance of the people and deal strictly with miscreants and anti-social elements.
A special task force would be constituted to deal with illegal weapon holders, he said.
Sandhu, who was presiding over a meeting with officers of the department here today, took stock of law and order in the district and issued necessary directions.
He said the police personnel have been put on alert from Sirsa to Panchkula in view of the court hearing of Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on August 25.
The police is keeping watch in sensitive areas like Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Jind, Hansi, Kaithal and Kurukshetra and the superintendents of police of the districts concerned have been asked to be vigilant, Sandhu said.
The police would also keep an eye on social media, he added.
Meanwhile, the police in neighbouring Punjab is also on their toes and has heightened security in view of the court verdict on the Dera head who had a large follower base in both Haryana and Punjab.
The special CBI court in Panchkula will pronounce the judgement in alleged sexual exploitation case against him on August 25.
Gurmeet has been asked to appear in person before the court on the same day.
The sexual exploitation case was registered against the Dera chief in 2002 by the CBI on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court after anonymous letters were circulated regarding the alleged sexual exploitation of two 'sadhvis' (female followers) by him.
He, however, has denied the charges.
