The artwork on the outer walls of AC College enthrals passersby

A splash of colour has made a huge difference to the outer walls of the School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) campus at Anna University.

Two months ago, volunteers of Chennai Trekking Club associated with the students of SAP campus to depict the effect that irresponsible disposal of plastics has on oceans, picturesquely, as part of Chennai Coastal Cleanup.

This led to the initiative of painting these walls with picturesque messages. These paintings never fail to draw attention of passers-by and commuters waiting at the AC College bus stop.

Sandhya Seshan, a third-year student, and Varshini Subramaniam, who graduated last year, lead this initiative of the Rotract Club of SAP campus called ‘Be Aware. Make Art-ware’

“As students of architecture, it is natural for us to take up any design for change,” says Sandhya Seshan, president of Rotract Club of SAP campus.

Around 30 students and volunteers of CTC painted the walls of the Gandhi Mandapam Road junction near AC Tech bus stop, setting aside 10 hours every day. “The fact that the artwork was done on the compound wall of our campus made it more special to us,” says Pudhuma Bharathi, faculty coordinator.
