The city Health Department has announced that a helpline number will be launched soon for patients at government hospitals. The number will be prominently displayed at all Delhi government hospitals.

“This helpline will be made public soon. It will be monitored by the Chief Minister regularly. Patients and attendants can complain about non-availability of medicines at government hospitals through this helpline,” Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain said on Wednesday.

Mr. Jain added that medical superintendents of all government hospitals in the Capital will be given the power to make emergency purchases up to ₹1 crore. Also, they will be allowed to deal with purchase of medicines in case tenders don’t work out because of lack of bidders.

“The Chief Minister has also directed officials to remove all hurdles in making non-functional machines fully functional,” he said.
