Four Bihar cadre IAS officers sent back to state

Four IAS officers working with the central have been sent back to Bihar, their cadre state.

The development comes 20 days after a new government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, took over in with the BJP's support.


Those sent back include senior bureaucrats Singh (1983 batch) and Subhas Sharma (1984 batch), said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Singh is additional secretary in the agriculture ministry and Sharma additional secretary in the information and broadcasting ministry respectively, according to official records.

The other two headed back to are Uday Singh Kumawat (1993 batch) and A N Safeena (1997 batch).

While Kumawat is joint secretary in the department of under the ministry, Safeena is development commissioner of the Cochin Special Economic Zone.

There are 243 IAS officers working in against the total authorised strength of 342.
