Claims she was abused, threatened

Eight months after the alleged sex scandal involving former Excise Minister H.Y. Meti, the victim approached the Director-General of Police, Additional Chief Secretary and Home Secretary complaining of threat to life and seeking protection.

On Thursday, she claimed before the media that she was “victimised” by Mr. Meti, accusing him of threatening her and ruining her life. The woman said she was abused when she had gone to him for official work when she was serving as an assistant at a Ayurvedic hospital in Bagalkot.

She said she had not revealed this earlier because the former Minister’s supporters had threatened her. The woman claimed she had been detained at a farmhouse belonging to Mr. Meti’s relatives for three days and was forced to write a letter stating that the scandal was fake. “The supporters even forced me to make similar statements to the CID,” she alleged.

The CID in May this year gave clean chit to the former Minister, who had to resign after a CD showing him in a compromising position with a woman was made public in December 2016. The CID had also said that it was a conspiracy involving some Opposition party leaders.
