The Indian cricket team celebrated the country’s 70th Independence Day by hoisting the Tri-colour in a brief ceremony here at their team hotel’s premises on Tuesday.

The Indian team gave the nation an early Independence Day gift, by wrapping up the third Test, and with that the three-match series, inside three days here at the Pallakele International Stadium on Monday. By finishing the Test early, the Indians gave themselves an extra two days’ of holiday before they kick-off their limited-overs series, involving five ODIs and a T20I.
The first ODI will be played in Dambulla on August 20th with the limited-overs reinforcements joining the squad there.
While Abhinav Mukund, Cheteshwar Pujara, R Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma fly back home, the likes of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur will be replacing them.
