Forty six foreigners, who had been living in Hyderabad in violation of visa and other rules, are being deported to their respective countries. In a recent joint operation by the Central and State law-enforcing agencies, officials identified that over 100 foreigners were overstaying in the city. Majority of them lived in Hyderabad Police Commissionerate jurisdiction. While 12 overstayed in Rachakonda, two with similar violation were traced in Cyberabad.
“Already eight out of the 12 foreigners had been deported. The remaining four would also be sent back to their respective countries,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said on Tuesday.
Special drive
Following inputs from Intelligence Bureau, Special Branch officials of the three police Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda went on a special drive of identifying foreigners in the city. Most of them were living in Hyderabad.
Inspection of their documents revealed that nearly 600 of them continued to stay in Hyderabad despite expiry of their visas or not furnishing their details with the local police as per the law. “Total 46 of them came under adverse notice as they were found to be living in Hyderabad for over a year with expired visas,” a police officer said.
Twelve of them were from Rachakonda while 34 were from Hyderabad. Some of the foreigners overstaying in Hyderabad had also been deported. Thirty four others gave an undertaking that they would get their visas renewed and sought permission from the authorities.
