Two minor girls from neighbouring Telangana drowned in Pranhita river near Sironcha in the district today, the police said.
The incident occurred when Sapna Pastam (13) and Venkathramna Kathbanji (12) were washing clothes when they lost their balance and fell into deep water, a police officer said.
The girls were living on the open land in Sironcha town for the last few days. Their families sell utensils for living, he said.
A team of Nagpur-based SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) was roped in to trace the bodies of the girls.
