Palestinians with 'India-connect' names attend I-Day event

In a unique initiative, the Indian mission here invited over 200 Palestinians with names that had an 'connect' to mark the country's 71st Independence Day.

Hind and Hanadi are popular names for girls in and other parts of the Arab world.


Mohannad, referring to a sword made in that was quite popular in the Arab world for centuries, a very popular boys name in this part of the world.

Similarly, Al-Hindi and Al-Hindiyeh are quite well known family names that seems to indicate an connect given that it is called Al-Hind in the Arab world.

The Representative Office of in Ramallah, paying tribute to the shared cultural heritage, invited Palestinians with these names as a special gesture to the event to celebrate India's 71st Independence Day, drawing unprecedented response.

More than 200 people attended the ceremony to mark India's Independence Day.

Palestine's Minister of Justice, Dr Ali Abu Diak, representing President was the Chief Guest for the event.
