JKSACS runs campaign against drug addition

The aids prevention and control body has been holding a series of events to spread awareness about drug addiction and other deadly diseases.

"A vigorous week-long campaign was launched across on August 12 to create awareness among the youth about various social evils especially drug abuse," a spokesman for the State Aids Prevention & Control Society (JKSACS) said.


He said special functions were held across the state to involve youth in an "innovative, artistic and creative way".

The launch of the programme was planned on the International Youth Day to motivate them to be "ambassadors of the society".

A kite flying event named "fly high- prevent HIV/AIDS and stop drug addiction" on the occasion of the Independence Day was held yesterday at Bikram Chowk to spread the message of "love and brotherhood", the spokesman said.

He said JKSACS used the opportunity to motivate youth to participate in healthy sports activities and disseminate the message against drug abuse and steps to prevent AIDS and other diseases.

He said JKSACS also participated in the valedictory function of induction training of doctors and Lab Technicians of the various blood banksat Government Medical College here.
