Another man injured, errant driver yet to be identified

A young biker was killed and another injured in a hit -and-run case in south-east Delhi’s East of Kailash three days ago. The errant driver is yet to be identified.

Number unknown

The deceased, 22-year-old Monu, was a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh and lived in a rented accommodation with his friend Bacchhu Lal, who also suffered injuries in the incident.

According to Mr. Lal, the accident happened around 11.30 p.m. on August 12. He and Monu had left home on a motorcycle and were on their way to Okhla Sabzi Mandi. They were near C Block of East of Kailash when a speeding car rammed the motorcycle from behind, throwing both of them off the bike. Due to the sudden impact, they could not note down the number of the car, said Mr. Lal, who was riding pillion.

A few passersby admitted both of them to a hospital, where Monu died during treatment. It was from the hospital that a call was made to the police. Mr. Lal, who works as a cook, is currently undergoing treatment. A case was registered under Sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 279 (rash and negligent driving) at Amar Colony police station.

CCTV footage

The accused is yet to be traced nor has the car been identified though the investigators are scanning CCTV footage. A police officer said that when a police team later visited the spot to gather evidence, no eyewitness was found.
