The draft ordinance will now go to the President for his approval.

The Attorney General on Wednesday gave his nod to a draft ordinance seeking one-time exemption from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-based admissions to undergraduate medical degree programmes in Tamil Nadu. It will now go to the President for his approval.

After Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured support to Tamil Nadu’s bid to get exemption from NEET, an official team, led by State Health Secretary J. Radhakrishna submitted the draft ordinance to the Centre on Monday.

The draft ordinance proposed by the Tamil Nadu government sought one-time exemption to admit MBSS/BDS aspirants based on their Plus Two scores for seats in government medical colleges and government quota seats in private colleges for this year alone.
