Pak's Foreign Secretary meets top Afghan leaders in Kabul

Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua Afghanistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai in and discussed bilateral relations and overall geo-strategic situation in the region.

"The two agreed that lasting peace and stability in was critical for regional stability," the Foreign Office said in a statement here today.


During the meeting yesterday, Janjua emphasized that there was no military solution to the conflict and the focus should be on evolving a credible political settlement.

The two sides agreed that was a common challenge and there was a need to strengthen bilateral institutional cooperation to effectively combat the menace.

Janjua underlined the need for strengthening border management and early humane repatriation of refugees.

Emphasizing the importance of regional connectivity, she reiterated Pakistan's desire to expedite transit facilitation and infrastructure connectivity projects between the two countries.

During the visit, Janjua also called on President Ashraf Ghani, National Security Advisor Haneef Atmar, NDS Chief Masoom Stanikzai, former president and Hizb-e-Wahdat leader Ustaad Muhammad Mohaqiq.
