Medals awarded at I-Day function

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday awarded 125 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Officers President’s Medals and Kirti Chakra, Shourya Chakra and President’s Police Medal for their gallantry services.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Group Centre, of the Central, Sunil Joon honoured these police personnel at an Independence Day function at Greater Noida.

Sacrifices for freedom

Earlier, Mr. Joon hoisted the National Flag at the Group Centre campus while the national anthem played in the background. DIGP, Range Noida, K. Thomas Job gave away commendation certificates to the best personnel of the station.

In his address, Mr. Job emphasised the significance of the national festival and said that people “should remember the sacrifices of those who fought to give us freedom from British rule and now, the government has given us the responsibility of maintaining internal security and we must promise to serve the nation at any cost”.

Children’s programmes

VIP Security Training Group displayed their expertise and school children presented colourful cultural programmes at the campus. Meanwhile, two Delhi prison officials — Deputy Superintendent Subhash Chander Batra and Head Warder Madan Lal — have been awarded the President's Correctional Service Medal for their exemplary services in the field of reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners.
