Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today reiterated his government's commitment to make rural Punjab Open Defecation Free (ODF) by the end of this year.
The chief minister gave the assurance to Union Drinking Water and Sanitation secretary Parmeswaran Iyer, an official spokesperson said.
Singh also assured Iyer that his government would take up, on top priority, solid and liquid management in rural areas after Punjab is declared open defecation free.
Iyer also discussed the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and rural water supply schemes at length with Singh.
He promised full support to the state in the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission, while lauding the state's performance on this count, the spokesperson said.
Other states, he said, should replicate the Punjab model, especially for the execution of rural water supply schemes, he said.
