Patriotic fervour marked the day all over with people taking part in flag hoisting ceremony celebrating the 71st Indian Independence Day here on Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari unfurled the National flag in Warangal urban district at Police Parade Grounds while Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary hoisted the tri-colour flag at Bhupalpalli district.
At Warangal rural district celebrations held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Hanamkonda, MLC P. Rajeswar Reddy hoisted the national flag while another MLC B. Venkateswarlu was chief guest at the celebrations at Jangaon district. Special Chief Secretary B. P. Acharya unfurled the national flag at Independence Day celebrations in Mahabubabad district.
Employment
Mr. Kadiam Srihari listed out the achievements of the State government and said a comprehensive Textile Park would soon be set up in the district. It would help provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people, he added. In rest of the districts, the chief guests highlighted the social welfare schemes such as KCR Kits, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha among others and how they helped people.
Children representing various educational institutions presented colourful cultural programmes at Independence Day celebrations. Assets were distributed to the beneficiaries under various welfare schemes by the chief guests who attended the celebrations.
