Lashing out at the Centre’s economic policies, All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi said, the Narendra Modi-led government had failed to tackle poverty and unemployment in the last three years of its rule. He was addressing a public meeting at the National College grounds.

Speaking about farm loan waiver, Mr. Gandhi said the Modi government did not to come to the rescue of the farmers who had suffered huge crop loss. “Unlike the Siddaramaiah government, the Modi government did not waive off crop loan,” he said.

After union minister Arun Jaitley told the Parliament that loan waiver was not in the hands of the Centre, but the responsibility of the States, Congress governments in Punjab and Karnataka had waived off crop loans. Following pressure from the Congress, the BJP-ruled Maharashtra and U.P. governments also waived off crop loans, he said.

Mr. Gandhi also blamed the Modi government’s faulty domestic and foreign policies for the escalation of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

On the launch of Indira Canteen, he said with the launch, no body will suffer from hunger in Bengaluru.

Chief Minster Siddaramaiah and Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge were present among others.
