Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Twitter account (GHMCOnline) has become the most vibrant Twitter group of any municipal corporation in the country, with more than 20,000 followers. As per the update last seen, the Twitter handle of the corporation displayed 20,500 followers.
The second in the line, the account of Brihat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has over 10,000 followers, followed by Pune corporation with over 6,500 followers, a press statement from the Corporation said.
The corporations of Surat, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Warangal corporations too have Twitter accounts.
On Facebook, another social media platform, the GHMC has clocked 38,934 followers, outdone only by the Ahmedabad municipal corporation with over 45,000 followers, the GHMC said.
The Facebook account of New Delhi municipal corporation has over 23,000 followers whereas that of Visakhapatnam corporation boasts of 12,500 followers.
It was also stated that the GHMC app received a total of 64,651 complaints pertaining to 44 departments between July 17 last year and August 13 this year. Of these, 62,139 complaints have been resolved so far. Those complaints resolving of which requires huge funding or coordination with other departments have been kept pending, the note said.
