The former Director of Medical Education (DME) and well-loved teacher of generations, M. Balaraman Nair, passed away at his residence here at Ulloor Gardens early on Sunday. He was 88.
He leaves behind his wife Vijayam and three daughters.
An alumni of the very first MBBS batch of the Government Medical College (GMC), Thiruvananthapuram, in 1951, Dr. Nair also served as the Professor (Pathology) and the Principal of the institution.
He had also served as the Principal of the Government Medical Colleges of Kottayam and Kozhikode, before retirig as the DME in 1987.
Dr. Nair had been the Director and CEO of DDRC laboratories and loved to be behind his microscope till the very end.
The body will be kept at the medical college on Monday from 9 a.m. till 9.30 a.m. for the faculty and students to pay respects. Cremation will be held at Shanthi Kavadam at 11 a.m.
