Security has been steppedupin Chhattisgarh, especially in the Maoist-affected areas, in view of theIndependence Day celebrations tomorrow.
Armed guards have been deployed at all the important government establishments, police said today.
Tightsecurity was being maintained in the state, particularly in the Naxal-affected Bastar region, to thwart any attempt by rebels to disturb the celebrations, Special Director General of Police (anti-naxal operations/Special Intelligence Bureau) D M Awasthi told PTI.
Additionalsecurityarrangements have been made at the headquarters of each of the districts falling under the Bastar division - Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker and Bastar, he said.
Besides, patrolling was being carried out by joint teams of security forces in the interior forest pockets and inter-state borders to check suspicious movements, he added.
The main function will he held in Raipur, where Chief Minister Raman Singh will hoist the national flag in the morning at the Police Parade ground and inspect a guard of honour by a contingent of personnel from different security agencies, an official statement here said.
Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal will unfurl the tricolour in Balodabazar district's headquarters.
Besides, ministers will take part in the I-day celebrations to be held at different places, it added.
