The activists of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Haisuru Sene staged a dharna in front of the office of district in-charge minister K R Ramesh Kumar on Saturday, demanding that the minister should keep his words on the implementation of KC Valley project.
The minister had said that he would not hoist Tricolour on Independence Day if water was not flown to the tanks in Kolar district before August 15 under KC Valley project.
The protesters said that the work on the project had not been completed even after a year of laying foundation stone. The minister, in order to hide this truth, has been falsely claiming that Lanco and the National Highway Authority of India were not granting permission for laying pipes.
State vice president of KRRS and Hasiru Sene K Narayana Gowda said that Ramesh Kumar, as an MLA, had ridiculed the Paramashivaiah report. He had also taken a padayatra to Chikkaballapur demanding solution for water crisis.
"He had declared that he will not hoist flag on Independence Day and resign as minister if waterwas not flowed to the district under KC Valley project before August 15, 2017. But, he is now changing his words. KC Valley project will come to a halt on the lines of Yaragol project," Gowda said.
Accusing Ramesh Kumar of using irrigation projects for meeting political ends, Gowda said that the minister had been blaming the National Highway Authority of India and Lanco for the delay. He has no commitment to complete the project, Gowda alleged.
Raitha Sangha district unit president Srinivas, Hasiru Sene district unit president Harikumar and others took part in the dharna.
