“The time has come to move beyond corporate social responsibility and practise individual social responsibility,” Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao said on Saturday. Speaking at Samruddhi, an evening to pledge service to mankind and to the environment organised by Samudhaaya Foundation here at Narada Gana Sabha, he said that human life was incomplete if there is no aspect of giving.
The Governor handed over cheques worth ₹ 14 lakh to Environmentalist Foundation of India and ₹ 12 lakh to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of India on behalf of Samudhaaya Foundation.
Ms. Ragunathan said that Samudhaaya, which was started in July 1999, focussed primarily on children.
Columnist and political analyst S. Gurumurthy said that music was just not an art or part of a culture but was a celebration of divinity.
N. Gopalaswami, former chief Election Commissioner of India and trustee, Samudhaaya, said that Ms. Raghunathan went beyond her music and lent a helping hand to those in need.
