Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday ridiculed the local unit of the BJP for its statement that the Union Territory would soon see the BJP forming a government.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Narayanasamy said a party that lost its deposit in all 18 constituencies that it contested in the last Assembly elections was “day dreaming” of installing its own government in the UT.
The Chief Minister wondered how a party without even a single elected representative could think of forming a government.
“They lost deposit in all the 18 constituencies. The party has no representation but still speaks about forming a government,” he said.
Pointing out the unilateral appointment of three BJP leaders as nominated members in the Legislative Assembly and their swearing-in by the Lieutenant Governor, he said the undemocratic ways of the BJP would not work for a long time.
The BJP used all its might, including money power, to stall the election of Congress leader Ahmed Patel but he scraped through the Rajya Sabha election test, he said.
