In a shocking incident, a youth was shot dead at Perinthalmanna in the district on Sunday.
Masin, 21, an audiology student at a private institute in Kozhikode, was brought to a private hospital with gunshot injuries on his neck in the evening.
Hospital sources said the youth from Manathumangalam near Perinthalmanna was brought by two persons who disappeared later. The police took two of Masin’s friends into custody, and an investigation is on.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the police said that Masin was killed from an air-rifle shot while trying to hunt egrets along with his friends. The police said the shot that killed Masin might have been fired accidentally.
