The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and sexual assault of a female actor in Kochi is slated to file an affidavit against the bail application moved by actor Dileep, an accused, in the High Court.
Official sources said the affidavit would be giving a point-by-point rebuttal of the allegations against the police by Dileep in his bail application. In his bail application, Dileep pointed out that he had sent a WhatsApp message to State Police Chief Loknath Behra on the same day when Suni contacted him over phone.
Officials, however, maintained that a message through a mobile phone application could not be regarded as a formal complaint.
According to them, there has been a delay of about 20 days in Dileep lodging a formal complaint on the alleged attempt of ‘Pulsar’ Suni, key accused in the case, to blackmail him from jail.
While the blackmailing episode was said to have taken place on March 28, the actor filed a complaint only on April 22, officials pointed out. They said they had also investigated in detail about the factors that caused the delay in filing complaint.
