05:22 pm: WICKET! Umesh strikes. Tharanga’s dismal run continues in the match. Gets an inside edge and it has bounced back on to the stumps. Bowled for seven.

05:13 pm: Umesh Yadav is the first change in bowling. Sri Lanka are 11 for no loss. Shami and Ashwin not giving the early success India needed

04:54 pm: Karunaratne is hit on the back of his shoulder and he is in some serious pain. Physio attending him. Delay in the innings

04:47 pm: Shami to start proceedings with the ball with Dimuth Karunaratne on strike just hours after he had done the same

04:39 pm: Sri Lanka have to bat again with a deficit of 352 runs. Dimuth Karunaratne and Upul Tharanga have to save the day for them

04:29 pm: WICKET! Kuldeep picks his fourth wicket. Turns the ball into Fernando who is pushing forward. Inside edge onto the pad before it goes on to hit the stumps.

04:15 pm: WICKET! This is beautiful and clever at the same time from Kuldeep! Flights it up to Pushpakumara who comes down the pitch only to york himself. Bowled. Sri Lanka eight down

04:09 pm: WICKET! Big wicket for India as Dinesh Chandimal departs. Ashwin gets his first wicket as Chandimal tries to play it down the leg side but is caught at leg-slip.

04:02 pm: Kuldeep and Ashwin bowling in tandem but Chandimal and Pushpakumara have done well to survive so far. Sri Lanka are 119 for 6

03:50 pm: India have now lost both their reviews after an unsuccessful for a caught behind against Chandimal. Sri Lanka need him to stay there to make anything out of this match.

03:39 pm: WICKET! Kuldeep Yadav has picked up his second wicket. Short from Kuldeep and Dilruwan Perera pulls it. There is only one fielder in the deep on the leg-side and it goes to him. Pandya with the catch

03:33 pm: Umesh Yadav doesn’t complete his delivery stride. He is in some pain. Looks clumsy and some discomfort. He is walking off the field now. Mohammed Shami to bowl

03:26 pm: WICKET! Beautiful, beautiful bowling from Kuldeep Yadav. Drives Dickwella down the pitch with a flighted delivery. It’s a wrong’un but Dickwella has failed to read it. Goes through the gap between bat and pad. Stumped.

02:14 pm: WICKET! Kusal Mendis has fallen victim to some stunning fielding and throwing from India. Chandimal plays it towards mid-wicket. Ashwin with a big dive but the throw is wide. Even bowler Shami cannot stop it. Kuldeep is backing up and he throws in a direct hit.

02:05 pm: Top over from Shami again. A maiden. Sri Lanka are 28 for 2. Change in bowling for India as Hardik Pandya is the new man to bowl

01:53 pm: Review! Kohli thinks India might have got Mendis. Umesh gets one back into Mendis and he has missed it. Hitting the knee rolls. This is very close. Clipping the top of middle stump. That is very, very tight. India lose a review

01:42 pm: WICKET! What a delivery from Shami. Angeling into Karunaratne before straightening a little and taking the outside edge of the bat. And, a wonderful catch from Saha.

01:41 pm: Good bowling from Shami. He keeps the batsmen guessing with that off-stump line. Umesh Yadav to continue for India. Kusal Mendis the new man for Sri Lanka

01:36 pm: WICKET! India strike early. Shami gets Upul Tharanga caught behind. Just a good line outside off-stump and Tharagna pushed at it. He reviews it. The bat or the ball is not close to the bat. There is distinct noise. Clear edge. Waste of review.

01:22 pm: Sri Lanka openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Upul Tharanga come out to bat. Mohammed Shami will bowl the first over

01:13 pm: WICKET! Hardik Pandya is caught in the deep. He looked to go after Sandakan but it is bowled wide. Not in control of the shot as it goes down the throat of the deep cover fielder. Pandya and India do not add any run to their score after Lunch.

01:10 pm: Players are back in the middle for the second session of play. Pandya will be on strike and Sandakan will bowl to him. India 487 for 9

12:31 pm: Lunch on Day 2! India will be very happy with the session. 158 runs coming off that session which had 32 overs. Pandya remains unbeaten on 108. Brilliant innings

12:17 pm: Hardik Pandya is on 99* but is off strike. Umesh Yadav to face Lahiru Kumara. India are nine down. Will he get to his 100?

12:12 pm: Umesh Yadav has a broken bat! Kumara’s attempted yorker turns into a full-toss and hits  the middle of the bat. Crack the sound

11:53 am: WICKET! Shami tries to chip it over the bowler’s head but has offered a catch to Sandakan. He accepted the catch off his own bowling. India nine down now

11:48 am: FIFTY! A single through the off-side and Hardik Pandya reaches his second fifty in his third Test match. This has been a more restricted innings where he has not played his shots

11:38 am: WICKET! Kuldeep Yadav is caught behind! The close in fielders and the wicketkeeper are convinced but Kuldeep has reviewed it. He doesn’t think he has edged it. OUT! There is a slight spike in the UltraEdge and the decision will stay

11:33 am: 400 up for India. A single from Hardik Pandya to take India to the mark. India still have three wickets on hand.

11:27 am: This has been good work so far from Pandya and Kuldeep. But now they face Pushpakumara. Sri Lanka took 90 minutes after start of play to bring on a bowler who took 3 wickets on day one

11:16 am: Kuldeep Yadav is getting a taste of his own medicine. Sandakan troubling him with some wrong’uns. Kuldeep was almost dismissed stumped. India 382 for 7

11:05 am: Spin for the first time in the day. Sandakan to bowl for Sri Lanka. Kuldeep Yadav, who also bowls chinaman, will be facing him

11:02 am: One hour of play done in Palleleke on the second day. 12 overs in that hour. India are 374 for the loss of seven wickets. Time for some drinks

10:55 am: A good-looking cover drive from Kuldeep Yadav off Karunaratne and he gets a four! So India can still bank on the lower order to take them past 400

10:51 am: Pandya is keeping more strike. Sri Lanka bowlers are bowling a good line today. It’s been the seamers so far. Pandya has done well to keep them at bay so far

10:40 am: A boundary through slips for Kuldeep. India 360 for 7. This will be a great learning experience for Pandya who bats more with the tail now

10:20 am: 350 runs up for India in the innings. They have lost an early wicket but Kuldeep Yadav can hang around. Can India score 400?

10:08 am: WICKET! Wriddhiman Saha falls. Vishwa Fernando proves early wicket for Sri Lanka. Rash shot from Saha as he chased a wide ball and went after it. It flies to the fielder.

10:00 am: Lahiru Kumara, who proved to be expensive on first day, will be begin proceedings with the ball. Hardik Pandya is on strike for India

09:45 am: How will the pitch behave on the second day is yet to be seen but Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav won’t mind the turn we saw on the first day during Indian innings

09:30 am: Sri Lanka’s batting was revived in the second Test when Karuratne and Mendis scored brilliant centuries. They need to bat in a similar manner and put up a fight

09:15 am: The pitch is taking turn. Though it has not spun like the pitches in Galle and Colombo, it has showed signs of supporting both the pacers and the spinners

09:00 am: Wriddhiman Saha and Hardik Pandya have their task cut out. They will try and take India’s total towards 450 and by Lunch, it will be happy to have cross 400 with no wickets lost.

08:30 am: Sri Lanka enjoyed their best day of the series so far. The bowlers bowled with purpose and did not allow India to run away with the match on the first day itself

08:15 am: Welcomes to the coverage of the second day’s play of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka from Pallekele International stadium in Kandy. India will resume at 329 for 6 with Wriddhiman Saha and Hardik Pandya at the crease.
