Gollapudi award presented

This year the Gollapudi Srinivas Award was presented to Hemanth M. Rao for his Kannada film, Godhi Banna Sadharna Mykattu. Mr. Rao was honoured with the award on Saturday at the Music Academy by Governor of Tamil Nadu Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and members from the film fraternity.

Ms. Suhasini Mani Ratnam spoke about the importance of the function. While many things have evolved culturally for the Gollapudi family in the last 20 years, this day will always remain eventful where they felicitate new talent.

The evening began with musical performances by artistes Haricharan and Anil Srinivasan.

Haricharan also performed one of his latest hit songs, Azhagiye, from Mani Ratnam’s film Kaatru Veliyidai.

This is the 20th edition of the award which is given to first-time film directors.
