With south west monsoon very active in Bihar, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall occurred at few places in north Bihar.
Heavy ranifall occurred at one or two places in south central parts of the state in the past 24 hours, while light to moderate rainfall was registered at two places in south western parts, met department said today.
The department has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at ioslated places in the north west, north central and north eastern parts of the state, while isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in south west, south central and south eastern parts of Bihar in next 24 hours.
Places like Birpur in Supaul district received 45 cm rainfall, Gaunaha and Bagaha received in West Champaran district received 37 cm each rainfall, Bahadurganj in Kishanganj district received 36 cm, Ramnagar in West Champaran district 35 cm, Kishanganj in 29 cm, Taibpur in Kishanganj district 26 cm. These places received extremely heavy rain in past 24 hours, a met bulletin said.
As per the bulletin, Purnea registered 19.2 mm rainfall and Patna 0.9 mm during the day.
Purnea registered 150.8 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours (recorded between 8:30 am on Saturday to 8:30 am on Sunday), followed 9.5 in Bhagalpur, 8.2 in Patna, it said.
Weather remained cloudy throughout the day coupled with very light rainfall in Patna that kept the maximum temperature at 29.5 degrees celsius making weather pleasant.
Among the other major cities, Gaya recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31.7 degrees celsius, followed by 30.5 degrees in Bhagalpur, 29.5 degrees in Purnea, the Met office said.
In its forecast, the Met office said that Patna and Gaya are likely to witness generally cloudy sky with few spells of rain or thunder shower tomorrow while Bhagalpur may witness generally cloudy sky with possibility of heavy rain tomorrow.
Purnea, however, is expected to witness continuous rain tomorrow with generally cloudy sky tomorrow, it said.
ECR CPRO Rajesh Kumar said that as per information made available by Northeast Frontier Railway, several trains have been suspended between Kishanganj-Panjipara on both up and down lines due to heavy rain and water overflowing on the track.
NFR has cancelled the running of two trains while five trains have been rescheduled, Kumar said.
