Sugar millgate prices remain down on ample supply, weak demand

Sugar mills gate prices remained lower and fell by up to Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased selling pressure from mills amid low demand.

Marketmen said besides inflow of arrivals from mills, reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers, mainly pulled the sweetener prices down.


In the millgate section, sugar Nanota, Asmoli and Simbholi eased by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,650, Rs 3,750 and Rs 3,810 per quintal.

Prices of Dhampur, Ramala, Baghpat and Shamli also eased by Rs 5 each to Rs 3,690, Rs 3,660, Rs 3,670 and Rs 3,700 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 40.00-44.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,000-4,100, S-30 Rs 3,990-3,090.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,650-3,840, S-30 Rs 3,640-3,830.
