An armed gang attacked a police team in Birodi village in Surajpur area here and fled with two of their accomplices who were being questioned over allegedly smuggling liquor in the area.
After conducting a raid at the village last night, police arrested two liquor smugglers identified as Pawan and Krishan, Surajpur police in charge Manish Saxena told PTI today.
During interrogation, they revealed that Rajinder Gurjar used to give them smuggled liquor for sale in the district.
Meanwhile, Rajinder along with his brother Gyanendra and a few other men reached the spot and attacked the police team, Saxena said. Amid the tussle, Pawan and Krishan managed to escape, he added.
Additional police force was immediately sent and Gyanedra was arrested from the area later, while efforts were on to a nab the absconding accused.
