PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss wants the State government to form a separate water management ministry and a water expert be named as adviser.
In a statement, Dr. Anbumani citied the Supreme Court’s queries to Tamil Nadu government on why it has not taken steps on water management and measures to save water received from the Cauvery.
The PMK has been stressing on the need to build dams in the delta region for the past 20 years which could have averted the current drought, Dr. Anbumani said.
In a statement, Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan said the State and the Centre should make co-ordinated effort and put pressure on Karnataka to release water to Tamil Nadu.
