Mysuru Warriors, a cricket franchise from NR Group, has appointed Karun Nair as the captain of the team for the upcoming edition of Karnataka Premier League. The 25-year-old batsman will be leading the tournament, scheduled to start from September 1.
Karun had led Delhi Daredevils in the second leg of IPL this year. The talented cricketer will also be heading India ‘A’ team in the forthcoming Test series against South Africa’s ‘A’ team. Karun will be joining the Mysuru Warriors by the end of this month, post his South Africa series, a release said here.
Speaking about this latest appointment, Arjun Ranga, owner, Mysuru Warriors, said: “We are confident about Karun’s leadership skills. He along with our coaches has the ability to guide the team to excellence.”
Practice session
The team will commence its practice session at the SJCE Grounds from August 14. The two top players of the team — Suchith J. and Shreyas Gopal — will be joining the preparatory sessions after the current Dr. K. Thimmappaiah Tournament organised by KSCA.
Along with the selected team members, the 12 shortlisted players from the talent hunt will also be going through a practice session, after which two players will be chosen to officially represent Mysuru Warriors in this year’s KLP tournament, the release said.
The team has retained Rx Murali as the head coach and Vijay Madyalkar as the assistant coach, along with Shyam Rao as the trainer and Raghavendra as his assistant.
