Movie theatres in Mysuru, including multiplexes, have been instructed to make arrangements for sale of tender coconut to the film-goers.
“We are urging multiplexes in Mysuru to make available tender coconut water to movie-goers so as to help and support our farmers,” tweeted Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru D. Randeep.
Mr. Randeep has written a letter to president of Mysuru Film Theatres Federation asking the managements of film theatres in the district to arrange for sale of tender coconut to the movie-goers for the benefit of farmers, who are reeling under a drought.
The movie theatres in Mysuru have been asked to take necessary steps for sale of tender coconut and submit a report to the office of the DC in the regard.
The DC’s communication to the theatres comes after Legislative Council member from Chickmagaluru M.K. Pranesh wrote to the Horticulture Minister asking him to take steps to prohibit the sale of soft drinks in movie theatres and instead make tender coconut available to them.
The Horticulture Commissioner in turn wrote to all the Deputy Commissioners of the districts in the State.
