All the knowledge of the world is not confined to universities and books. It can be found in real life. With this philosophy, the Ficci Ladies Organisation (FLO) organised a seminar on ‘Disruptive Work’ in the city on Friday bringing together three men who have walked the untrodden path and made a difference.

“The biggest challenge before our society is climate change but our children are not learning anything about it. If children are engaged in solving real life problems they will not be led astray by technology or lifestyle,” said Sonam Wangchuk, an inspiration for the Hindi film 3 Idiots, and who is considered a guru for alternative education models.

Climate change

“In the upper reaches of Himalayas and other hilly areas, glaciers and melting of lakes is a huge problem. They can wipe out cities. We are working towards a solution where water will stay frozen and can be used whenever required. We are working with Peru, Switzerland and Sikkim for a solution. Environment can be a big opportunity for entrepreneurs,” said Mr. Wangchuk.

“The biggest risk in life is working for someone else. Unless you take risks that are worth taking we will amount to nothing,” said Ram Navrekar, who now leads an early stage investment fund after being expelled from a management course for ‘asking too many questions’.

‘Do what we like to do’

Deepak Ramola, a life skill coach and who has worked as a lyricist and uses life’s lessons from his encounters with people attending workshops, said: “We are all working with the knowledge that we are all going to die. That’s why we should live to the fullest doing what we like to do.”

Later, the three men addressed a gathering of members of Ficci Ladies Organisation.
