State Government on Thursday suspended Siricilla Central Crime Station (CCS) Sub-Inspector Ravinder in connection with the attack on dalits in Nerella.
The suspension order was issued by IGP (North) Y. Nagi Reddy following an inquiry report submitted by Warangal range DIG Ravi Varma. “The inquiry found the SI had ordered lathi-charge against people which left many injured,” the IGP said.
The local police station house officer was not available at the spot on the day of the Nerella incident. He, along with another officer, was already injured in the violence unleashed by a mob after a fatal road accident, Mr. Reddy said.
In the absence of the local SHO, CCS SI Ravinder was instructed to handle the situation.
