Natham: India opener Murali Vijay spoke on different topics, ranging from his comeback to the Indian team, his injuries, and the impact of TNPL on youngsters, on the sidelines of the abandoned match between Madurai Super Giant and Lyca Kovai Kings here on Thursday.
Excerpts:
Getting back onto the field: Great to be back in the TNPL. Hope to start from this tournament and build on.
Main aim from this tournament: To get young domestic talent and help them out. Someone like T. Natrajan was picked in the IPL this year. The credit goes to TNCA for helping them showcase their talent. Players get to play under lights. The pressure of playing in front of such a big audience will help them a lot.
Performance of Lyca Kovai Kings: I like anybody who performs well in the tournament. Since I play for Tamil Nadu, the player who does well here can make a career playing for the state. So I want everyone to do well. The talent in this tournament is just fantastic.
Comeback through T20: The format does not make a difference. It’s just the injuries which are not under my control. My career has been one-dimensional. It is my mindset and injuries that I need to take care of. I enjoy playing the game and I am eager to get back and start my second innings.
Players who have been impressive: I like the way Sai Kishore handles himself. Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith have done well and along with Dinesh Karthik have been sharing their experiences with the youngsters.
Lance Klusener as coach: I like his swagger. He was a fantastic cricketer. It’s a great opportunity for youngsters with someone like him around.
On playing for India: Once I am fully fit I will inform the BCCI and it is up to them after that.
