Says conspiracy within film industry to destroy his career

Actor Dileep, an accused in a case relating to the sexual assault on a woman actor, on Thursday filed a fresh bail petition in the Kerala High Court.

In his petition, Dileep pointed out that he was totally innocent of all the allegations levelled against him in the case. He had been falsely implicated in the case as part of a larger conspiracy by a powerful section in the film industry with a view to ousting him from the industry.

He had been arrested in the case on the basis of the confession by prime accused ‘Pulsar’ Suni. In fact, the petitioner had never seen or talked to Suni. The police had fabricated his confession to destroy his career. Besides, the de facto complainant — woman actor — had not levelled any allegations against him. The allegation of the police is that the crime was committed in furtherance of a conspiracy hatched in 2013. Nobody could have a case that the nature of crime allegedly committed by the prime accused required four years of preparation.

He pointed out that there was no mention of his name in the the final report filed after a thorough investigation by a team of senior police officers. The investigation team could not come across any material even to remotely indicate that there was any conspiracy other than the conspiracy by Suni and other accused.

The conclusion in the final report was that the accused had conspired to blackmail the woman actor and thereby to extort huge amounts from her under the threat of publishing the offensive videos. The new story about the conspiracy was false. The main piece of evidence against him was the letter allegedly written by Suni from the jail.

No accused with the calibre of the first accused could write such a letter or get such a letter written from a prison. Moreover, co-prisoners had gone on record saying that the letter was written on a directive from jail authorities.

There was total absence of any reliable material for the arrest and detention of the petitioner. The investigation was practically complete, all the witnesses questioned and the recovery was effected. Therefore, no further detention of the petitioner was necessary, the actor pleaded.
