Hundreds of people today took to street demanding the arrest of accused in Gudia rape-and- murder case and Hoshiyar Singh murder case and stage a gherao of the State Secretariat here.
Under the banner of Gudia Nyaya Manch and Seraj Manch, the protesters gathered at the Central telegraph Office and marched towards the State Secretariat holding placards of Gudia and Hoshiyar Singh, raising anti-state and anti-police slogans.
The agitators stage gherao of the Secretariat following which forced the police to erect barricades and cordon off the area.
The vehicular traffic was also blocked and long queues of vehicles were see on both side of the road, even after the traffic was diverted via Lakkar Bazaar and Bypass.
The Gudia Nyaya Manch, spearheading the agitation for speedy justice for Gudia, announced gherao of the Vidhan Sabha, during the Monsoon session on August 23, to protest against deteriorating law and order situation and spurt in crime in the state.
The Gudia case has already been handed over to the CBI and the high court has asked the probe agency to submit status report by August 16.
