Mansoor’s interrogation crucial in tracing whereabouts of other accused, says NIA

KOCHI: The NIA Special Court here on Tuesday sent Mansoor, former Ernakulam district secretary of the Popular Front of India and an accused in the Muvattupuzha palm-chopping case, to the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further interrogation.

Considering a petition, the court sent the accused to NIA custody for three days. In its petition, the NIA had said that a detailed interrogation of Mansoor was crucial in tracing the whereabouts of the other persons wanted in the case.

Further, the agency is probing the conspiracy involving Mansoor to execute the crime and the harbouring of criminals and extension of financial assistance to their families.

The NIA, in June this year, had filed a chargesheet against Mansoor for his alleged involvement in the attack on T.J. Joseph, a former lecturer of Newman College, Thodupuzha.
