Prez condoles death of BJP leader Sanwar Lal Jat

President Ram Nath Kovind today condoled the death of former Union minister and member from Ajmer, Sanwar Lal Jat.

In his condolence message to Jat's son Lamba, Kovind said Jat served the nation in various capacities including as Member of Parliament, Union minister of state, ministry of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation, Cabinet minister, of and minister of state (independent charge), of


"In his death, the nation has lost a distinguished leader who was always in touch with the grassroots of society," the president said.

"Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. May you all have the strength to bear this irreparable loss with courage and fortitude," he said.

Jat breathed his last today at AIIMS where he was undergoing treatment following a cardiac arrest.
