‘Congress workers not receiving work contracts’

more-in

Stating that Congress workers were not receiving contracts of development work despite the party being in power, Congress leader H.K. Mahesh said it would lose all seven seats in the district in the next Assembly polls if the workers were not strengthened financially. He was speaking at a convention organised by Congress Sevadala in Hassan on Tuesday.

“JD(S) leaders ensure that their workers are benefited in terms of work contracts. However, leaders of the Congress hardly focus on strengthening the workers financially. Despite our party being in power, our workers are not getting contracts in the district. It seems as if JD(S) leader H.D. Revanna is Minister in-charge of the district,” he said.

Congress workers have had to work hard for the party without any expectations, while JD(S) workers appear to be prospering every year, Mr. Mahesh said. “How can we expect workers to campaign during elections if we cannot fulfil their needs,” he asked. Further, lauding the Chief Minister, he said Mr. Siddaramaiah had been doing a commendable job, but party leaders at the district centre were not taking workers into confidence.

‘BJP losing ground’

Congress leader U.R. Sabhapati said that the BJP had been losing ground in the State. The differences between its leaders B.S. Yeddyurappa and K.S. Eshwarappa would harm the party. “Congress workers should work towards bringing back the party to power in the State. You have to go door-to-door and educate the public about good works of the party,” he said.

Party leaders S.M. Anand, C.V. Rajappa, Hassan Urban Development Authority chairman Krishna Kumar and others were present.
