Under the scheme to update and revise details registered in residents’ Aadhaar cards, District Collector Anita Ramachandran formally launched the Aadhaar updation centre here on Tuesday.
The Department of Posts (DoP) which has taken up the job, in a tie-up with the Unique Identification Authority of India will rectify and update the details at its post offices.
“For the district, updation facilities will be available in 12 sub-post offices soon,” Ms. Anitha Ramachandran said, starting the first Centre at the Bhongir Head Post Office.
Since most welfare programmes and schemes being launched by the Government mandates Aadhaar authentication, it is essential to keep original and revised data, she said. Aadhaar updation facilities are available at a service charge. For complete updation of card details, the service charge is ₹ 25, and the printing for each such revised card is ₹ 10.
Officials from the DoP were present at the launch ceremony.
