Municipal Administration Secretary visits Japan to showcase State’s potential

The State government has intensified its pitch for collaborations with the Japanese industry in some of the core sectors to achieve accelerated growth.

Municipal Administration Secretary Naveen Mittal visited Japan to showcase the State’s potential and available resources for making it a hub of investments from Japan.

Mr. Mittal had several meetings with the Japanese industrial majors during his six-day visit and held discussions with them relating to setting up ventures in the State.

The core sectors where the potential for investments were discussed are automobile, IT and hardware, pharma and textiles.

According to Mr. Mittal, the Japanese companies evinced interest in the second phase of the Metro Rail while their response was positive for the invitation extended by the State government for investments in the other sectors.

The State is also expected to sign a memorandum of understanding for sister State relationship with a major Japanese city and modalities are being worked out in this direction. “It may take a couple of months to finalise the MoU. The response from the Japanese firms for our request for investments has been positive and we are hopeful of developments in this direction in the coming days,” Mr. Mittal said. He is also expected to visit Singapore around August 15 to hold discussions with the industrial majors there.
