NLCIL builds home for senior citizens

100 destitute women and men above the age of 62 years will be admitted

NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has established an old age home at Neyveli for the destitute senior citizens under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The old age Home, ‘Anandam’ will be inaugurated by NLCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sarat Kumar Acharya on August 15.

A release said that NLCIL has been taking up many works under its CSR programme such as extending help to Sneha Opportunity Services (SOS) for special children at Neyveli, providing nutritious diet for people with HIV and assisting in the maintenance of home for the differently-abled.

The building housing the Nurses hostel has been modified to suit the requirements of the senior citizens and equipped with furniture and other amenities at a cost of ₹1 crore.

Anandam will function under the association of the CSR cell of NLCIL and HelpAge India. Initially, 100 destitute women and men above the age of 62 years will be admitted in the home.

The strength will be increased to 150 subsequently. Food, accommodation and other recurring monthly expenditure for the home will be met by voluntary contributions from the employees of NLCIL and the CSR cell of the company.

Eligible individuals can apply to the General Manager (CSR), Central Technical Office, Block 1 Neyveli – 607801 with proof of age and photocopies of family ration card, voters identity card and Aadhaar card. The committee constituted for running the home will select the individuals.
