Amazon India is taking on Flipkart by launching the Great Indian Sale at the same time as Flipkart's Big Freedom Sale. Amazon's sale began at midnight yesterday. The sale will go on till August 12 whereas Flipkart's sale will end on August 11.
The US-based e-commerce giant is offering discounts on gadgets, fashion, large appliances and other segments. Amazon prime members, who need to pay a yearly fee of Rs 499, also get 30 minutes early access to some top deals.

Other than that, there are additional app-only offers available for a limited period only; Amazon Pay and holders of credit or debit cards from certain banks will get additional cashbacks. The in-app purchase can also get the buyer an all-expenses paid trip to Bali.
According to a MailToday report, the worlds' largest ecommerce company Amazon's profit for April-June quarter plummeted 77 per cent although sales surged 25 per cent as it invested heavily in video content and fast-growing economies like India.
However, the company has insisted it is committed about continuing to invest in India. "With The Great Indian Sale, we are excited to bring together exciting and fantastic deals from thousands of brands and sellers across a vast selection of products in all types of product categories," said Amazon India vice president (category management) Manish Tiwary.
Here are the best deals being offered on the Great Indian Sale:
iPhone 7 (32GB) is being offered at a discount of Rs 6,000 and is available at Rs 42,999.
iPhone 6 (32GB) is available at an attractive price tag of Rs 23,999.
OnePlus 5 will get an additional exchange discount of Rs 2,000.
Moto G5 Plus will be available at Rs 14,999 with a discount of Rs 2,000.
Honor 6X is being offered at Rs 10,999 with a discount of Rs 1,000.
Up to 40 per cent off on pen drives, 50 per cent off on Bluetooth speakers and 40 per cent off on hard disks.
Products on Amazon Fashion are also being offered at a discount of 40 per cent to 80 per cent.
